If you’re booking your own hair and makeup team, it’s essential that you first speak with Vicki, your amazing wedding planner. Together, you’ll create a realistic schedule that allows time for everything – from early prep right up to the moment you step into your dress.

Share Your Timings – and Stick to Them

Once you’ve confirmed your timings, you must share them with your chosen stylists and make it very clear that these timings are not flexible. We completely understand that your hair and makeup team have an important job to do – after all, you deserve to look and feel incredible.

However, it’s important to remember that these stylists may not work closely with Vicki and may not fully understand the impact of overrunning or causing delays. They might not realise that if timings slip, it can create big problems for the rest of the schedule.

But here’s the thing: we also have an important job to do, and it’s just as essential that we have enough time to do it properly. If your stylists overrun, it can have a huge impact on what we’re able to capture for you.

Why Is This So Important?

Here’s what usually happens before the ceremony:

• Photos of you and your bridal party in your matching robes or PJs

• Fun, candid moments during hair and makeup

• The bride getting dressed and all those little details (shoes, jewellery, perfume)

• A first look with bridesmaids or parents

• Beautiful final portraits once you’re ready

If hair and makeup run over, it creates a massive knock-on effect. We may have to rush, cut down the variety of shots, or even skip some altogether. And nobody wants that.

Positioning Matters, Too

Another thing to keep in mind: where your hair and makeup team set up can make a big difference. If they choose a spot with limited space or poor light, it can be extremely difficult for us (and your videographer) to move around and capture all those lovely candid photos while you’re getting ready.

Ideally, your stylists should set up near natural light (like a window) and leave enough space for us to walk around you without having to squeeze past or disrupt the process. This way, we can get a variety of beautiful angles and moments without anyone feeling crowded.

We’re All a Team

It’s so important that everyone – you, your planner, your stylists, and us – understands that we all need to work together to make your day perfect. Everyone’s role matters, and sticking to the agreed schedule is the only way to ensure nothing gets missed.

Please remember: we’re not doing this for ourselves – we’re doing it for you. We simply want to make sure we have the time (and space) we need to capture your day as it naturally unfolds, beautifully and without stress.
